Texas moves to No. 1, LSU tumbles in Week 9 college baseball Power 10

Texas, Arkansas top latest college baseball Power 10 rankings

Another new No. 1 team emerges in Week 9’s Power 10, with teams climbing and others falling in the standings.

1. Texas (Prev. 2)

All right, got another new No. 1 team in this week’s Power 10 as the Texas Longhorns take over the top spot. They won the rubber match against Kentucky on Sunday after losing in the bottom of the 15th inning on Saturday on a defensive miscue. But with Arkansas losing the series to Georgia, the Longhorns take over at 29-5 on the season.

2. Arkansas (Prev. 1)

The Razorbacks only drop one spot to No. 2 with the series loss on the road, both losses by a run.

3. Tennessee (Prev. 4)

I have Tennessee moving back into the top 3 at 31-5 with a series win over Ole Miss last weekend. The Volunteers scored three runs in the top of the ninth to earn a 10-8 victory in Sunday's series finale.

4. Clemson (Prev. 5)

Clemson is up at No. 4 after the Tigers won the series over Stanford. Jacob Jarrell’s leadoff homer in the 6th made the difference on Saturday as they clinched the series win.

5. Georgia (Prev. 6)

Georgia moves back into the top 5 with a big-time series win over then-No. 1 Arkansas. Henry Hunter hit a two-out walk off bomb in the 12th inning to secure the series win.

6. Oregon State (Prev. 9)

Oregon State climbs in the rankings to No. 6 after the Beavers put up a 12-spot in the third inning on Saturday, scored 17 runs in the game and then hit four home runs as a team to pull out a 1-run win on Sunday and secure the sweep over Cal State Fullerton. They're playing UCLA on Tuesday this week, so it should be a good one.

7. Florida State (Prev. 8)

Florida State lost a midweek to Florida but then swept a top-25 ACC series over Virginia Tech over the weekend.

8. Auburn (Prev. NR)

Auburn moves in after sweeping LSU — the first sweep of the Tigers since 1988. The pitching was impressive, as Samuel Dutton tossed a gem on Friday and they held the Tigers to to their lowest hit total of the season on Sunday.

9. LSU (Prev. 3)

LSU drops to 9 with the sweep. The Tigers still have only six losses on the season, so I'm not dropping them out of the Power 10 yet.

10. UCLA (Prev. 10)

UCLA stays put at 10 after the Bruins won another Big Ten series over Washington. Now it's a big week for the Bruins with Oregon State coming up on Tuesday and then a series against a top-25 team in Oregon.

Ole Miss moves right outside of the top 10 mostly because I needed to move Auburn in — but they will have plenty of opportunities to re-enter.
