MacNamee's walk-off homer keeps Miss. St.'s CWS hopes alive

Mississippi State was down to its final strike in what’s been a whirlwind of a 2018 season against No. 1 seed Florida State in Tallahassee. Right fielder Elijah MacNamee had other plans.

On a 1-2 count with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, trailing 2-0, MacNamee was sitting on an off-speed pitch that he could put in play to keep the Bulldogs’ season alive.

Instead, he planted one deep over the left field wall to keep MSU’s season alive as with a 3-2 win as it advanced in elimination bracket in the Tallahassee region.

Watch MacNamee’s homer here:

After falling 20-10 to Oklahoma in the opening game in Regionals, the Bulldogs found themselves in a win-or-go-home matchup with host Florida State, the seventh overall seed in the tournament. The Seminoles dropped their opener 7-6 to No. 4 seed Samford.

Mississippi State will await the loser of the Samford vs. Oklahoma game.
